Position Description:
The Engineering Inspector position involves a broad range of duties associated with conducting field inspections and observing the construction and progress of water and wastewater projects.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Observes installation of sanitary sewer and water lines. Requires proper materials and installation procedures be followed.
  • Records inspection observation for permanent record.
  • Investigates problems and complaints under the direct supervision of an Engineering Assistant or the Deputy Sanitary Engineer.
  • Researches data and reports as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a High School diploma or GED.
One (1) year construction experience or equivalent is preferred.
A valid Ohio Driver’s license with a safe driving record and a drug screening are required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Applicants should have construction experience including conducting field inspections, observing the construction and progress of water and wastewater projects, maintaining records, logs and daily progress reports, developing familiarity with departmental rules, regulations, specifications and safety standards, reviewing drawings and prints, utilizing tools and instruments and exhibiting strong skills in verbal and written communication.
Applicants should exercise basic judgement and time management skills, encompass analytical thinking, and provide customer service in a professional fashion.
