Objectives
The position directly reports to the County Auditor and provides a wide variety of services to the public and other governmental entities.
Essential Functions
- Maintain real estate records through sale, including conveyance/transferring of land to new owners
- Review documents and legal instruments including but not limited to: deeds, legal descriptions, plats, titles
- Maintain Homestead application assistance and Manufactured Homes transfers
- Extensive knowledge of excel spreadsheets
- Process Real Estate & Manufactured Home tax settlement, for distribution to entities. IE: Schools, Townships, Libraries, etc.
- Maintain splits and combinations and provide municipalities with requested information
- Answer inquiries and fulfill public record requests, from taxpayers and other interested parties, pertaining to Real Estate, Manufactured Homes & Homestead program
- Process dog applications and deal with dog and kennel licensure
- Completes special projects as requested by Knox County Auditor.
- Represents the Knox County Auditor’s Office inside and outside of office hours.
- Must maintain the ability to get along with others (i.e. develop and maintain cooperative professional relationships), including but not limited to customers/citizens, colleagues, direct supervisors and government agencies.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Standards
Excellent communication, computer, organizational and customer service skills. A good working knowledge of modern office-oriented computer programs such as accounting software system, Microsoft Word, Excel and others. An Associates of Business, Finance or similar degree or equivalent experience. Absolute honesty and integrity. An ability to research, grasp and apply knowledge of detailed and complex subject matter.

Equipment:
Ability to operate a variety of modern office equipment including but not limited to Microsoft Office, with Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel. Ability to competently utilize a wide variety of computer and networking tools, software, and hardware. Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.

DIFFICULTY OF WORK
Work consisting of complex, varied, standardized and non-standardized tasks requiring application of numerous laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
III. RESPONSIBILITY
Individual must demonstrate superior multi-tasking skills. Individual must adhere to departmental rules and procedures regarding confidentiality due to the nature of information that is accessed.
IV. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS
Contact is with co-workers, employees from public and private sector organizations and the public. The purpose of these contacts is to guide and direct, check on progress of work assigned, coordinating services, and job development/referrals, make recommendations and handle questions about department, programs and client concerns.
V. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical Requirements: Individual performs light work, which may require lifting up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally. Occasional heavy work required to push or pull objects up to 25 pounds or less.
Physical Activity: Individual performs the following physical activities: standing, walking, manual dexterity, grasping, talking, and listening.
Visual Activity: Individual performs work where the seeing job is close to the eyes.
Job Location: The minimum work conditions for the position indicate that the individual is exposed to both inside and outside. Individual is also exposed to noise.
