 JOB TITLE:  Title Clerk I/Typist/E-TITLE TYPIST

 

 

 

PAY GRADE:     Range 5

SUMMARY:  Under direct supervision, provides general cost accounting by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include the following.  Other related duties shall be assigned, as needed.

 

 

40% Enters automobile titles from information supplied by Tri-Vin E-Title Processing System.; verifies and distributes E-Title work processed.  Performs data entry.

 

30% Enters automobile titles from information supplies by the auto dealers, banks and the general public by computer.  Cancels liens on titles from lending institutions and/or auto dealerships.  Types cancellations from pre-ATPS titles on worksheet.  Cancels ATPS tiles in computer.  Verifies and distributes all title work processed from walk-ins (general public) customers, mail and dealer work. 

 

15% Assists (1.5 to 2 hours, plus lunch breaks as needed) the public, automobile dealers, attorneys, bank personnel, etc. in processing and issuing titles; responds to inquiries in person (i.e. lost titles, tax totals, fee totals, etc.); explains information required to transfer and/or assign titles.  Types general correspondence.  Performs work for other employees, when needed.  Collects tax and title fees from individuals and records collected fees on daily work slips.

 

10% Log off computer, unload printer, collect title boxes, prepare mail, run daily reports, calculates and balance checks and cash.  Balances individual cash drawer (checks and cash) with checkout report.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one (3) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Individual should be computer literate.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
