Primary Responsibilities:

The candidate for this position requires a strong Architecture / Architectural Engineering / Structural Engineering and construction background with an emphasis on Structure and Architectural Envelope and infrastructure systems for Science and Technology facilities. Experience in design as a Project Architect, Architectural Engineer or Structural Engineer developing documentation or Commissioning (Cx) planning, and Field Observations of construction for technical / Science and Technology or Laboratory and light Pilot Scale Manufacturing will be highly valued.

Excellent organization, leadership, and communication skills for daily interactions at a large construction project are needed. The candidate will need to have numerous conversations with the CM, Structural and Architectural Subcontractors, Client, and the HDR Project Architect & design core team. The HDR team members will continue their involvement throughout the construction, start-up, and Cx, as such the primary role of the Senior Architectural / Structural Construction Administrator is to maintain communications, and the pulse of information flow timing to and from the HDR home office team.

It is expected that the Senior Architectural / Structural Construction Administrator will 'walk the site' daily, be versed in current submittals and RFIs as they are being processed, and relay pre-final information to those involved in submittals and RFIs to preview what is flowing from the design team back to the construction site.

HDR has entered into a contract to provide construction contract administration services for the Architecture and building infrastructure scope of the work for a Client in the Cincinnati Ohio area, and this person will coordinate communications between HDR team members and project leadership, and the Client and Construction team members at the construction site in the Cincinnati area.

The role will work in the Mason, Northern Cincinnati construction site, and occasionally (roughly every six to eight weeks) travel HDR's location in Pennington, NJ for coordination activities with the disciplines.

The candidate Field Architectural Administrator will be seated in the CM construction Trailers with the client representatives, have HDR laptop, and CA IPad & PPE. HDR will coordinate high speed internet connection and minor/miscellaneous office supplies with the Owner and CM.


Additional common responsibilities include:
Initiate, coordinate, and facilitate communications between HDR team members, consultants, project leadership, and the Client and Construction team members at the construction site.
Make periodic site visits, representing the HDR / A-E in various meetings with the Construction Manager and the Owner's representatives.
Observe and monitor overall construction progress and report back to the HDR Project Architect, and team (discipline Leads, and PM).
Document all visits by authoring Field Observation reports in the required format, which include photos of both compliant work progress, and any work which appears to be evolving in a manner not compliant with the contact documents. Where work appears to deviate from the contract documents, the relevant dwg. or specification clause will be included in the Field Observation report. This identification / investigation of potential field issues will be communicated to the HDR discipline leads, as well as the Client and CM for proper resolution.
Participate in RFI investigation/ resolution with HDR discipline leads.
Interface with HDR leads on submittals and help with identifying priorities to meet construction milestones, including technical reviews and completion of submittals if required.
Communicate & coordinate HDR and consultant discipline lead site visits and agendas for timely review/resolution of construction issues.
Structure meetings to resolve field/design issues with both HDR lead and CM.
Review and comment on CM and/or Subcontractor's monthly payment application.
Coordinate and work with HDR's home office Construction Project Coordinator for managing RFIs and submittal flow.



Preferred Qualifications:


Proficient in laptops, and use of tablet / IPad computers, and familiarity with related tools and processes, including contractor's software such as BlueBeam, BIM360, Newforma, Cx Alloy and similar construction administration software.
Proficiency Autodesk Revit and Prolog programs a plus.
Preference is given to local candidates

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
A minimum of 5 years professional or internship experience preparing details, specifications and construction documents
Must possess credentials to obtain future registration
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
Desire to pursue growth opportunities and eventually obtain registration
Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process
Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
