Electrical Engineering Co-Op

The Electrical Engineering Co-Op plays a key role in supporting both legacy and new product development efforts within the Engineering Department. This highly motivated individual will contribute by participating in testing, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and documentation updates that ensure the functionality, reliability, and compliance of electrical systems in medical devices.

In addition to hands-on technical support, the Co-Op will have the opportunity to lead small-scale sustaining engineering projects, evaluate alternative components, and assist in continuous improvement initiatives. Tasks will be performed with the guidance and mentorship of experienced engineers, offering a strong learning environment and professional growth within a regulated, high-impact industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Design electronic architecture, circuitry and PCB layouts under guidance of engineer mentor. Create and update electrical schematics, component specifications, and assembly drawings using Altum and SolidWorks
Evaluate alternate component selection and technical specifications for electrical component obsolescence
Participate in testing, failure mode analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigations of electrical systems
Develop automated test data collection processes leveraging and skills from education and previous work experience.
Lead and execute small-scale sustaining engineering projects related to electrical systems
Analyze operational data to provide recommendations for system improvements and optimizations
Adhere to project timelines and deadlines to support timely task completion
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements to design and implement electrical systems and components for medical devices
Work closely with mentors and senior engineers to develop technical expertise and industry knowledge
Communicate effectively with internal teams, project stakeholders, and external partners

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Strong Academic Background in Electrical Engineering, With A Minimum GPA Of 3.0.
Prior Experience or Coursework in Electronics, Circuit Design, And Embedded Systems.
Familiarity With Schematic Capture and PCB Design Tools Such as Altium.
Hands-on experience with Test and Measurement equipment such as Digital Multimeter and Oscilloscope.
Ability to learn and leverage automated data acquisition systems and processing tools.
Basic understanding of engineering drawings/prints.
Excellent Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking Skills, With the Ability to Troubleshoot and Analyze Complex Electrical Systems.
Strong Communication and Teamwork Skills, With the Ability to Collaborate Effectively with Colleagues and Present Technical Information to Non-Technical Stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


>2 years of Engineering or Physical Science curriculum completed.
Previous electrical engineering experience (co-op/internship).
Previous experience working in a medical device environment.
Product design experience.
Change control experience.
Experience executing test protocols.
Experience updating documents within a QMS (i.e. DHF/DMR documents).
