Opening for a Full-Time Assistant Public Works Superintendent

The City of Tiffin has an opening for an Assistant Superintendent, in the Public Works Department. "Must have valid driver’s license and carry, or be able to secure, CDL. Position provides benefits with an hourly rate of $36.5688 @ 40 hours per week, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Supervises crews and maintains equipment for the maintenance of the municipal street network, urban forest, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system, traffic signal network, public stormwater structures, various municipal properties, and other features on public property or within the right of way.
- Manages and supervises assigned operations to achieve goals within available resources; plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff; reviews progress and directs changes as needed.
- Provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans; gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed.
- Provides advice to supervisors; makes presentations to supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups and the general public.
- Communicates official plans, policies and procedures to staff and the general public in assigned area of responsibility.
- Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within the budget; performs cost control activities; monitors revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; prepares annual budget requests; assures effective and efficient use of budget funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
- Oversees the maintenance of City projects monitors and maintains sanitary sewer collections system, monitors and maintains stormwater collection system (small MS4); manages urban forest, manages traffic signal, signs, streets and alleys.
- Oversees snow and ice removal, light and heavy commercial mowing, excavation and pavement projects, ditch maintenance, and other projects.
