Sunstar Engineering Americas (SEA), a highly successful manufacturer of automotive adhesives, sealants, and coating products, is seeking an experienced individual to join our team.

About the Position

Quality Engineer performs duties focused on product quality leading to customer satisfaction. This is accomplished through APQP Cross-functional teams for new business development, comprehensive non-conformance response with accurate root causes and effective countermeasures, a focus on auditing and continuous improvement to avoid quality problems and data-driven analysis to ensure quality outcomes.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Participate in APQP process and provide timely outputs as part of CFT.

Execute design verification using GR&R methodology for products and manufacturing capabilities.

Develop and update work instructions to ensure accurate testing in quality lab environments.

Train Quality Department personnel on new testing methods and equipment.

Validate manufacturing processes and ensure conformity to R&D designs for new product launches.

Conduct audits for internal, contract manufacturers, suppliers, and toll manufacturing processes.

Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to product quality, raw materials, and manufacturing processes.

Drive continuous improvement projects focused on efficiency, sustainability, and effectiveness.

Address quality non-conformances by performing root cause analysis, implementing countermeasures, and providing technical expertise to customers.

Maintain and execute Quality Management System (QMS) and Quality Control System (QCS) to uphold SEA standards.

Conduct product quality reviews, manage non-conforming materials, and support development of quality procedures and calibration systems.

Maintain databases for customer issues, projects, and raw material approvals.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Science and Technology, or equivalent.

3–5 years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong oral and written communication skills for interfacing with customers.

Demonstrated statistical and analytical abilities.

Travel required (approximately 30%).

Certified Quality Engineer or American Society for Quality certification preferred.

Experience in batch processing chemical manufacturing or working with Automotive OEM/Tier-1 customers preferred.

Proficiency in planning and problem-solving using statistical techniques (e.g., DOE, measurement systems analysis, statistical process control) preferred.

Knowledge of APQP, FMEA, and Risk Analysis is a plus.
