Job Description

Position:  Installation / Mounting Technician

 

 

Job Purpose:  The position involves installing, calibrating, inspecting and troubleshooting

                       lights, electrical wiring, hydraulic systems and lines, and work truck

                       components, including dump bodies, spreaders, hitches, and accessories, to

                       upfit heavy duty truck chassis.

 

Job Duties:

  • Install dump bodies on truck chassis, including subframe and hoist installation by welding, assembling, and fabricating.
  • Install central hydraulic systems, including running conduit and hoses, installing hydraulic oil tank, and controls.   Programming, testing and troubleshooting to ensure system is calibrated and functional.
  • Install wiring harness and connect electrical components, including a variety of lights and light bars through use of Deutsche connections, butt splice, heat shrink and general wire routing.  Testing and troubleshooting to ensure systems are functional.
  • Install truck hitch on chassis by elding and fabricating, according to installation instructions.
  • Install under tailgate material spreaders or V-box material spreaders, according to specification, by welding and fabrication.
  • Contribute to team effort.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Basic shop math and ability to read and interpret work instructions, diagrams and blueprints.
  • Hand dexterity and working knowledge of hand and power tools, including impact wrench, grinder, hammer, welder and overhead hoist.
  • Welding ability – MIG welder; certified welder preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in truck upfitting preferred.
  • Electrical wiring experience, preferred.
  • Hydraulic system experience, preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds; ability to push up to 150 pounds.
  • Ability to stand continuously; walk and bend frequently; climb, balance, squat, crawl, and reach overhead occasionally. 
  • Class A CDL, preferred.
  • Ability to adhere to all safety rules.
