Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs
Part-Time, 20-29 Hours/Week
$20.00/Hour
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for the effective and efficient administrative and clerical operations of the Senior Companion program in assigned counties on a day-to-day basis.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the operations of the Senior Companion Programs in assigned local offices.
- Recruit, enroll and train volunteers while ensuring all proper documentation is obtained.
- Conduct monthly in-services for all counties.
- Establish volunteer stations and ensure stations comply with grant performance measures as needed.
- Tracks client information, completes client referrals, matches clients and volunteers.
- Maintain local volunteer, station and program files and provides central office with required paperwork.
- Recruits, trains and directs activities of local Advisory Council members with collaboration from other AmeriCorps Seniors staff as delegated.
- Enter data and extract reports from a variety of program databases for local, state and federal grant reports. Provide grant reporting information such as demographics and performance measurement results.
- Work in collaboration with Director, Coordinators, and Assistant Director on adapting forms during transitions for changing needs such as recruitment and enrollment materials, volunteer forms and handbook.
- Provides appropriate volunteer recognition throughout the year (i.e. birthdays, important life events) and assists with the planning and implementation of the annual AmeriCorps Seniors recognition event in all counties assigned.
- Encourages members to participate in National Days of Service (ex: MLK, Patriot Day) and promotes national service/National Days of Service in the local community.
- Maintains petty cash; prepares check requests as needed.
- Promotes the programs’ missions and needs and recognizes member contributions to both internal and external audiences.
- Assist with maintaining a safe work environment.
- Comply with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and education/certification/registry requirements.
- Provides back-up coverage to other counties as needed.
- Intermittent travel throughout assigned counties and state, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to interact with others, specifically senior population.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including percentages and averages with a calculator.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Ability to read and understand procedures, manuals, correspondence and general text.
- Ability to maintain discretion with confidential data.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License, reliable transportation and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability
- Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation and FBI).
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience/training in volunteer management, administration, public relations, community organizations or related fields. Experience in employee performance appraisal and management. Must be computer literate with Microsoft Office programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift 40 pounds. Ability to travel within and outside of assigned counties.
