Job Description: Biery Cheese in Louisville, OH, has multiple full-time Skilled Packaging Technician (First, Second & Third Shifts) openings.

 

50 CENTS/HOUR SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL INCREASE FOR SECOND SHIFT TO $1.00/HOUR

 

Job Overview:

The Skilled Packaging Technician (SPT) should be able to demonstrate the skills needed to perform every job function on their respective section. This will include the ability to operate all equipment to a proficient operational level. This position may also perform sanitation duties as needed.

 

First Shift: Monday 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.; Tuesday - Friday 6:55 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Payrate: $20.75/hour.

Second Shift: Monday - Friday 2:55 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Payrate: $20.75/hour; Shift differential $1.00/hour.

Third Shift: Monday - Friday 10:55 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Payrate: $21.00/hour; Shift differential $2.00/hour.

*Occasional mandatory overtime on all shifts including weekends

 

Typical positions filled by SPTs are as follows:

  • Slicer
  • Hayssen Operator
  • Material Handler

 

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel through consistent support of the company’s safety process
  • Safely operate all equipment/machines on the line in the most efficient manner
  • Understanding of all plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • In-depth knowledge of ERP System (E21) functions, track quantities per order, input lot numbers and start/stop work orders on time
  • Complete all tracking of line progress through Redzone accurately and in detail
  • Responsible that product is ran to specification ensuring the highest quality
  • Understand all equipment on the line and make adjustments/troubleshoot when needed (robots, matrix, taper, labeler, scale)
  • Ability to operate Single Stages, other cutters and 640 lifts to load respective machines
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform the function of process/trim position
  • Participate/support the SQF program and assist in the development of the system and operational standards and corrective actions
  • Perform routine quality checks
  • Be adaptable to change, flexible to work overtime, perform PT1 and PT2 responsibilities as needed
  • Additional duties and/or projects may be assigned

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Demonstrate reliability and good work ethics, quality work performance, attention to detail is a must and maintain a good working relationship with all other departments
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to multitask and work in a team oriented fast-paced environment
  • Must have excellent attendance

 

Work Environment:

Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which may require special safety precautions working around moving machines in production facilities. Protective clothing or gear such as goggles, gloves and shoes may be required. Must be able to work in a cold environment.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Ability to use both hands/arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Ability to work in multiple areas of the plant and may be exposed to wet and humid conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Will work near moving mechanical parts, high and/or confining places.

Details: Full time. Qualifications: High school diploma / GED. Must be at least 18 years of age.
