Job Summary

Product Design Engineers focus on designing and developing new or existing products, components, or assemblies. They apply engineering principles to develop products that meet customer technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements. May also be involved with designing product specific manufacturing production processes and equipment.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Works on product design engineering problems and assists with projects or processes.
Conducts various forms of modeling and drafting (2D, 3D, etc.) to determine if proposed designs are technically feasible.
Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototypes.
May also be involved with designing product specific sheets and manufacturing production processes and equipment.
Manage assigned projects by tracking the project schedule throughout its lifecycle. Present any obstacles to on-time production, and solution with our vendors. ensuring the information is updated and tracked as necessary.
Assist with technical questions and problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with component design, analysis, sourcing, and validation and manufacturing.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with industry experience.
3+ years of experience in product design, preferably in fire protection or fluid handling systems.
Strong communication skills with experience working with international vendors and customers.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Familiarity with fire protection standards (e.g., NFPA, UL, FM).
Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Experience with fire suppression systems, valves, or piping components.
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes relevant to fire protection components.
PE license or progress toward licensure is a plus.
