The Team Members We’re Looking For
We’re looking for Packaging Machine Operators. What they do is program our product packaging machines using a keyboard and terminal to make sure that each bag produced and run has the proper size, weight, codes and dates based on customer need.
You would be working in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34°F. The work surfaces and floors may be wet and you would be working around different types of chemicals like concentrated chlorine and concealed. There is a lot going on, like moving machinery, including conveyor and forklifts that are in operation in the immediate area, so noise levels are high.
And we’ve got you covered! Safety is ALWAYS first, so we have protocols and protective equipment to help you be able to get the job done.
As a Packaging Machine Operator (PMO), these are some of the things you’d do during the course of the day:
- Learn and perform all of the functions of the position assigned following all company rules and standards
- Review and follow the daily production schedule, including changes that may occur during the day
- Check that the machine has been properly reassembled after cleaning or repairs before using
- Oversee machine set-up, general machine operation and changeovers
- Make sure that the proper packaging materials are used for each product type being produced
- Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material
- Monitor weights, seals and general packaging of product
- Make packaging adjustments as necessary
- Troubleshoot and resolve operating issues
- Collect required samples needed for Quality Assurance testing
- Perform product quality checks
- Report product quality issues according to standard operating procedures
- Complete operational paperwork and reports
What You’ll Need to Start
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience in a food processing environment helpful but not required - we will train
What You’ll Need to Do This Work
- Good communication skills
- Good time management
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment
- Ability to interact well with co-workers
- Ability to stand for duration of shift (8+ hours) on concrete floor
- Ability to work in a wet and cool environment with an average temperature of 34° F
- Ability to work in a noisy environment with moving machinery, (e.g., conveyors and forklifts)
- Ability to work in the presence of chemicals (e.g., chlorine and concealed ammonia)
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop and carry out repetitive hand movements
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
- Must be able to work on surfaces and floors that may be wet
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance
- Must have the ability to work shifts that include weekends and work overtime when needed
