Overview




LMI is seeking a Technology and Data Systems Specialist - Process Improvement to support the development and management of NASA's space technology research portfolio. The Technology and Data Systems Specialist - Process Improvement will serve as a bridge between STRG program operations and the digital tools that support them. This role is responsible for identifying and implementing process and technology improvements to streamline grant administration, data reporting, and performance tracking. The Specialist will bring a systems-thinking mindset to support digital transformation efforts, manage operational data structures, and lead efforts to organize, improve, and sustain the STRG program's internal tools and systems. This position requires comfort with digital systems, data workflows, and a strong grasp of program operations and process improvement principles.

Responsibilities





Lead efforts to improve STRG program workflows by identifying, designing, and managing digital solutions that enhance operational efficiency.

Design and implement digital transformation tools to streamline data capture, processing, and reporting across STRG operations.

Support development of grant manager-facing tools that enhance tracking of KPIs and program metrics.

Collaborate with program and IT staff to gather requirements and enhance usability of internal data systems (e.g., SharePoint, dashboards).

Develop and maintain internal tools (e.g., SharePoint trackers, data dashboards, process templates) that support grant monitoring and reporting.

Map and maintain up-to-date databases and blueprints of grantees, deliverables, performance milestones, and reporting requirements.

Translate program needs into technical requirements and manage iterative enhancements with relevant stakeholders.

Deliver data reports and presentations used to monitor program performance and support stakeholder reviews.

Support data governance and system usability by defining user access roles, documenting workflows, and implementing controls.

Serve as a key liaison between STRG program staff and technical teams (e.g., NASA IT, contractors, external system integrators).

Facilitate ongoing improvements to STRG master data structure, recommending refinements based on evolving program needs.


Qualifications




Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Public Administration, Engineering, or related field.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in technology-enabled program support, product ownership, or operations process improvement.

Demonstrated ability to analyze program operations and translate them into well-scoped digital tools and process improvements.

Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization/reporting tools.

Experience with basic data structuring and reporting (e.g., lists, tables, data validation, version tracking).

Knowledge of data governance, cybersecurity principles, and sensitive data protection best practices.

Proficiency in SharePoint configuration and maintenance.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Power Suite of products (e.g., PowerApps, PowerAutomate, PowerBI) and/or other low-code tools

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting federal R&D programs (e.g., NASA, NSF, DoD, etc.) or grant administration workflows.

Familiarity with process mapping, user requirement gathering, or Agile-style iteration cycles.

Exposure to data governance, system security, and performance reporting best practices in a public sector context.

Target salary range: $80,000 - 140,000.
