Job Description

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Category Buyer to join our Energy Procurement team in Cleveland, OH. As a Category Buyer, you will provide assistance in developing, managing, pricing and maintaining supply contracts with our energy suppliers. This position will be responsible for some combination of: Electricity, Natural Gas, Liquid Fuels and other commodity categories as assigned. This person will interface with Accounting, Operations, and our third-party Energy Managers as well as their peers from the Procurement organization.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Support Energy Procurement Team as necessary by sharing ownership of suppliers within the commodities assigned including assisting in writing and managing contracts, pricing, quality, and performance
Continuously strive to reduce the total cost of procured goods and services by negotiating favorable pricing, terms, and price protection in order to obtain the best value
Keep abreast of market conditions as to availability, price, and quality of assigned commodities
Write Purchase Requisitions / Purchase Orders for all utilities / suppliers
Interface regularly with supplier representatives
Review assigned incoming requisitions and determine best buying methods
Partner with management and Legal on contract requirements and address purchasing issues in a timely fashion
Prepare detailed weekly / monthly cost reports for use by accounting and management
Follow department policies and procedures and participate in activities to continuously improve department workflow
Occasional travel is required
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in supply chain or other business-related degree
At least two years of purchasing experience
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Stronganalytical skills with an attention to detail
Ability to think strategically and work independently as well as in a team environment
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Must be resourceful and about to take initiative with a sense of urgency

Preferred Qualifications:

Supporting a manufacturing organization
Understanding of the natural gas and electricity markets
Knowledge of Oracle and TabWare ERP systems
