SierTeK Ltd. is seeking a Program Manager (Sim Operatorr) to support an opportunity at the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide technical expertise for operating high-tech patient simulator systems.
  • Assist in developing and validating metrics for simulation-based team-training programs to improve healthcare education and patient outcomes.
  • Support advanced learning technologies and methodologies for team training programs.
  • Provide technical and analytical support for the Team Training Program at C-STARS Baltimore, including:
    • Digital video recording operations
    • Equipment maintenance
    • Team training performance analysis
    • Simulation scenario design
    • Operating simulators in controlled environments
  • Utilize a state-of-the-art Learning Management System (LMS) to:
    • View, evaluate, and analyze learner performance during trauma simulations.
    • Provide scenario-based feedback on team and leadership performance.
  • Gather, track, and analyze team performance data from pre- and post-simulation scenarios.
  • Support the development, collection, and analysis of data for pre- and post-simulation activities.
  • Prepare simulation environments and recover simulation equipment after training sessions.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for personnel on simulation equipment and environments.
  • Assist with daily operations and management of the simulation training program.
  • Contribute to the development of simulation validation metrics.
  • Collaborate with program analysts, curriculum advisors, program directors, IM/IT staff, medical logistics, and site simulation center leaders to:
    • Identify operational needs
    • Develop recommendations to address simulation or course shortfalls
  • Assist the Program Course Director in reviewing patient simulation scenarios.
  • Develop training, safety, and maintenance materials for simulation equipment.
  • Participate in strategic planning meetings, teleconferences, and conferences to improve simulation-based course delivery.
  • Provide consultative assistance for simulation center setup, site expansion, and high-fidelity simulation recommendations.
  • Ensure simulation training aligns with educational objectives, sustainment requirements, and course learning outcomes.
  • Report simulation supply and equipment needs to support training scenarios.
  • Operate simulation systems, task trainers, hi-fidelity simulators, and VR procedural trainers, including making scenario adjustments in real-time.
  • Develop troubleshooting guides, simulation checklists, and lesson plans; submit for review by the Program Course Director.
  • Support simulation research projects within the scope of contract duties.
  • Provide timely notification of leave requests (minimum 10 workdays in advance) and minimize absences during scheduled course dates.
  • Assist with train-the-trainer activities and equipment troubleshooting to prepare additional simulation cadre members.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements

  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Skilled in word processing tools and SharePoint.
  • Certifications (must meet one or more of the following):
    • Current National Registered Paramedic (NRP) or equivalent.
    • Equivalent paramedic medical knowledge (RN-level preferred) to operate simulations and interpret medical responses.
    • Active Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in military or civilian medical environments.
    • At least 3 years of experience in programming/managing human patient simulators, including Laerdal, Gaumard, CAE, and related systems.
    • Course development and education methodology experience.
    • Knowledge of trauma clinical skills, procedures, and processes, including AFMS Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).
    • Familiarity with Air Force and professional standards, with completion of USAFSAM and departmental orientation programs.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Must have a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) on file with the company; copy must be provided to the Program Manager.
    • Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs., transport simulation equipment, and work in demanding environments (low light, high noise, temperature variation) to simulate realistic mission conditions.

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Military Medical Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year of military medical or military deployment experience.
  • Experience with:
    • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
    • Audio/Visual solutions
    • Moulage creation & hyper-realistic simulation tools
    • Task-trainers and simulation integration
