Lead development and implementation of the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system that will manage traction performance in all weather conditions. Oversee and update the electronic control of AWD system and work with internal departments and suppliers to meet data freeze deadlines. Lead development of performance requirements and engineering specifications for related powertrain function set. Conduct or lead the design of advanced engineering solutions and the associated drawings and validation processes for a related powertrain function set. Design test and simulation procedures and standards independently or through others and coordinate the planning and execution of tests and simulations. After analyzing the results, conducting failure analysis, and recommending countermeasures / specifications, ensure the achievement of desired performance, cost, and quality targets. Follow company guidelines and policies to integrate the assigned function set into the powertrain and/or vehicle or lead a team in doing so. Lead continuous improvement projects and provide related technical or group management. Compile and/or develop documentation to record and submit all necessary information as the development process moves forward. Day-to-day activities include vehicle data parameter acquisition and analysis, hardware measurement, testing the vehicle in demanding environments, and data calibration. Prepare and explain documentation for each required test/calibration requirement. This role does not involve managing subordinates; works with a team that reports to a Group Leader. 10% travel to unanticipated domestic and/or international locations is required.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering; 4 years of relevant of professional experience; 4 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite used to create test and technical review documents, to perform complex calculations, track data trends, and organize data in easy-to-read visualizations, and to organize and securely share data/information for everyone to access; 4 years of experience with Data Analysis Software, ETAS MDA, Vector CanAPe, or equivalent, used to visualize, post process and analyze test vehicle data measurements and to correlate and compare multiple vehicle measurement data; 4 years of experience with Computer Modeling Software, Matlab / Simulink or equivalent, used to simulate powertrain ECU software logic for bench calibration and perform powertrain component lifetime durability calculation; 4 years of experience with Data Acquisition Tools, ETAS INCA Software or equivalent, used to measure/log powertrain ECU CAN and sensor data from test vehicles and calibrate and validate powertrain ECU software; 3 years of experience with Data Acquisition Tools, Strain Gauges / DAQ Hardware, used to instrument test vehicles with ETAS DAQ hardware/sensors for measuring axle shaft torque, temperature and strain values; and 3 years of experience with Data Management Tools, AVL Creta, SVN, or equivalent, used to update and maintain the latest/different versions of powertrain ECU software in the data management tool for other interested parties to access.
