About the role:

The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for performing asbestos sample prep for Phase Contrast Microscopy, Polarized Light Microscopy, and Transmission Electron Microscopy in accordance with prescribed methods and standard operating procedures. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Responsibilities

About you:

* Performs preparations of air, water, dust, bulk building material, and soil samples using established AHIHA, NVLAP, EPA, and NYELAP methods.
* Use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, LIMS and other applications for analytical data entry, report generation, and other administrative duties related to the asbestos department.
* Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

* Laboratory experience is desired but not required.
Physical Demands:

* Able to stand or sit for 50-80% of an 8-hour workday.
* Able to wear personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, lab coat) for majority of a workday.
* Able to hear and speak clearly to communicate with co-workers and managers.
* Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware.
* Able to see to read reports, look through a microscope, and operate laboratory equipment.
