Summary
The Data Specialist supports all IR online surveys, including course and instructor evaluations and ad hoc survey requests. Provides support in the compilation, analysis, and presentation of data for internal and external reporting purposes, accreditation projects, key performance indicators (KPI’s), and strategic planning. Retrieves data from systems such as Banner and Argos to create reports, build data visualizations, assist with data governance-related efforts, and update institutional dashboard indicators.
Principal Functional Responsibilities
Data Collection and Management: Administer online course evaluations and surveys: Collaborate with college stakeholders to create surveys and evaluations, schedule reminder emails and automations, build reports, and disseminate final reports and survey results to appropriate stakeholders. Maintain records of survey production and report creation. Create user-friendly instructions and standard operating procedures, and perform tasks integral to the survey process, including consultations for users of NEOMED’s survey software (presently Qualtrics). Gather data obtained from Banner, Argos, and other sources. Assist with data quality and governance-related efforts, and continuously improve data collection procedures.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Assist Director in preparing and submitting external and internal data reports to support institutional research, accreditation efforts, key performance indicators, strategic planning, and decision making. Perform data analysis and assist with data visualization and dashboard efforts. Help administer updates to the IR website: Develop tables and visualizations for reports, presentations, and updates to NEOMED’s Facts & Figures webpage. Possess an interest in learning new data modeling and analysis techniques as well as utilizing evolving technologies (such as Power BI and Generative AI) when appropriate.
Operational Efficiency: Develop tools and processes to increase the accuracy and efficiency of the operations of the Institutional Research office. Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders across the university, be an advocate for strong data quality, and embrace a continuous quality improvement mentality.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of one year of assessment, quantitative data, or research experience, or equivalent.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; ability to learn and/or quickly adapt to new software or systems

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with survey software, preferably Qualtrics.
• Experience working with data in Banner or other ERP.
• Experience with (or strong interest in) data visualization-related software (e.g., Power BI, Envisio, Tableau, Google Looker)

Department Specific Information
Starting Salary Range: $47,689 – $56,432, commensurate with experience
