Job Opportunity – Programs Specialist with Children’s Hunger Alliance in Cincinnati, OH(remote/local travel)

Founded in 1970, Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger, collaborating with organizations throughout Ohio to provide nutritious meals to at-risk children who need them most. CHA partners with in-home child care providers, childcare centers, afterschool, and summer programs to provide balanced, nutritious meals to children in their care. Additionally, they work with schools to increase breakfast participations and provide weekend meals to students. CHA educators also deliver nutrition educations and lead children in physical activities to support children’s long-term health.

As a CACFB Program Specialist, you will recruit and train child care centers and family child care providers in operating the Child and Adult Care Programs (CACFP); conduct monitoring reviews and complete required documentation; provide technical assistance and customer service to child care centers staff and family child care providers; conduct and report outreach activities; participate in regional, state and team meetings; all other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site monitoring reviews of child centers and in-home reviews of family childcare providers.
  • Provide technical assistance/customer service to child centers and family childcare providers to ensure they are claiming and meeting program requirements.
  • Conduct and report outreach activities for childcare centers and family childcare providers.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate community contacts to increase awareness of CACFP and bring additional resources to the program.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CACFP regulations of ODE, USDA, CHA, etc.; especially policies and procedure related to childcare centers and family childcare meal pattern requirements.
  • Follow Ohio law regarding reporting of cases of suspected child abuse/neglect.

We are looking for a talented individual with:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Nutrition, Child Development/Early Childhood Education or 2 years relevant experience deemed appropriate; experience with structured childcare programs and training preferred.
  • Ability to work a flex schedule with some evening
  • Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.
  • Highly effective communication and presentation skills- written and oral.
  • Planning, organizing, prioritizing and time management skills; able to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to use technology and innovative strategies to create effective nutrition education materials and train adults.

Knowledge of:

  • USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program regulations
  • Child nutrition and development, early childhood education
  • Program implementation and evaluation

Job working Condition:

Frequent travel within Southwest, Ohio

Pay Rate:

$20 - $22/hour based on experience
