Job Description
The Microbiology Lab Assistant will perform limited microbiology functions. In accordance with standard operating procedures, follows all applicable regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily BacT/Alert quality control maintenance.
Perform removal of finalized cultures from the BacT/Alert.
Verify Vitek temperature is acceptable.
Perform the following basic duties in the microbiology lab:
* Swab inoculation of Thio and TSB
* Log in specimens (electronically and manually) and pull discard tubes
* Daily temperatures/CO2 readings
* Log in new media, reagents and supplies
* Perform weekly eye wash/shower maintenance and weekly hood QC
* Incubator and refrigerator quarterly PM
* Troubleshoot the temperature monitoring system
* Weekly cleaning of irradiation/rinsate room
* File paperwork
* Change CO2 tanks
* 2nd check CTMS and manual log ins
* Clean lab spaces
* Organize and restock lab supplies and MicroCheck tube discard
Perform follow ups with branches as necessary.
Irradiation Load specimens:
* Log in specimens
* Label tubes
Required Education/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Work Environment:
* Must be able to meet the required physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.
