Description
An exciting opportunity exists at Barnes for a Product Engineer. The ideal candidate will support engineered-to-order and nitrogen gas springs product lines. This position plays a key role in the design, execution, and optimization of products, process and equipment in a manufacturing environment. In this role you will design products by creating and updating 3D models and drawings to meet customer specifications (component drawings, design standards, and internal assembly and customer approval drawings) and produce bills of materials using the company's ERP system. As required you will interact with both internal and external customers and engage with team members to support sales growth initiates. The right candidate for this position enjoys collaborating with others, has a strong attention to detail, enjoys producing and checking drawings before presenting to production, and engaging in continuous improvement problem solving.

Core Responsibilities:


Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and quality teams to design products, lead process improvements and implement capital projects-from ideation through design and execution.
Serve as a technical subject matter expert in engineered systems and nitrogen gas springs across various industrial operations.
Design engineered systems utilizing SolidWorks design software, and develop supporting documentation such as bill of materials, specifications, and operating instructions.
Develop CNC programs for production using 3D CAD/CAM software.
Troubleshoot equipment and systems, driving root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
Ensure projects meet regulatory, safety, environmental, and reliability standards.
Lead internal and external resources on projects of varying scale.
Mentor other team members and/or Co-Ops.
Other related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:


7+ years of hands-on product and project engineering experience in industrial operations utilizing machining operations.
Experience in computer aided design 3D (CAD) software and computer aided manufacturing (CAM/CAD) software.
Able to program complex CNC machines. (i.e.- 4 or more axis).
Familiarity with machining equipment including multi-axis mills and lathes, boring mills and general manufacturing equipment.
Working knowledge of industry codes (e.g., ISO9001, AITF, AS9100D).
Strong skills in SolidWorks, Esprit, and MS Office tools.
Proven success managing multiple projects with attention to safety, budget, and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work across departments and with all levels of personnel.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%, including international assignments during critical project phases.

Education Requirements:


Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or related field with relevant experience).
