Position Overview
As a Fitter, you will be responsible for assembling, positioning, and aligning structural or mechanical components according to blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications. This role requires precise measurement, cutting, and fitting of materials to meet safety, quality, and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications for layout and assembly.
- Measure, cut, grind, and shape materials to exact dimensions.
- Position, align, and secure components using clamps, tools, and welding or bolting methods.
- Inspect completed assemblies for proper fit, alignment, and quality.
- Work closely with welders, fabricators, and other team members to complete projects.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Keep accurate records of work completed and materials used.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a fitter or similar role in metal fabrication, construction, or manufacturing.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, measuring devices, and fabrication equipment.
- Solid math and measurement skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Physical stamina to handle lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or apprenticeship preferred.
Working Conditions
- Shop environment with temperature variations depending on the season.
- PPE required, including welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Overtime or shift work may be required depending on project needs.

Wage: starting rate is $25.25/hour
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 5:30 am to 2 pm (with overtime)
