Job Description

Position Title: 
STNA (NATCEP) Instructor (Part-time/Adjunct) (Multiple Positions)
 
Reports To: 
Nursing Program Administrator or Associate Administrator 
 
Compensation:
Negotiable (part-time/adjunct position does not include benefits)
 
Description:  
STNA (NATCEP) instructor will manage, deliver, and evaluate knowledge and skills taught at the postsecondary level to adult learners. Instructors work with Program Coordinator to ensure content is aligned with Ohio Department of Health guidelines and requirements.  Depending on qualifications, instructors may be assigned to teach in the classroom, laboratory and/or clinical settings 
 
Minimum Education, Training and Experience: 
  • Completion of an approved nursing education program (LPN or RN) 
  • Current, valid, and unrestricted State of Ohio nursing license (LPN or RN) 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of long-term care experience; 
  • Train the Trainer certification, or willingness to complete, is required 
Essential Functions: 
Teaching nursing subjects at the postsecondary level to adult learners. Instruction may be delivered in classroom, laboratory and/or clinical settings. Assignment may be to the role of Lead Faculty, Teaching Assistant, or Guest Lecturer.
 
  • Implement teaching strategies relating to nursing of individuals or groups in the class, laboratory and/or clinical setting. 
  • Clarify expectations of teaching assistants or preceptor; the course and clinical objectives and the lab or clinical evaluation tool. 
  • Supervise learner’s clinical experience/student practice. 
  • Contribute to the evaluations of the learner’s performance/progress in the classroom, clinical and/or lab. 
  • Communicate learner’s clinical performance and progress as compared to stated objectives. 
  • Keep records of learner progress. 
  • Communicate learning needs. 
  • Provide for orientation of each learner to the clinical site. 
  • Counsel individual adult learners by identifying strengths and shortcomings, guiding the adult learner on the appropriate use of available resources; coaching to enhance or improve performance. 
  • Serve as liaison between school and clinical agency. 
  • Serve as role model. 
  • Develop teamwork. 
  • Foster professional relationship with learners. 
  • Participate in the development of the educational program. 
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge and engage in professional development. 
  • Maintain organized, safe and clean work environment. 
  • Attend scheduled meetings, development days, in-services, pinning and graduation ceremonies. 
  • Maintain timely payroll records. 
  • Complete annual trainings as required.  
Additional Requirements for all KTC instructional faculty: 
  • State of Ohio Adult Education Teaching Permit, or willingness to complete.  
  • Satisfactory FBI and BCI background check, and reference checking. 
  • Clinical faculty must maintain current BLS for Healthcare certification, documented immunity, and compliance with clinical requirements per facility requirements.
