Overview
An automotive manufacturing company is looking for a Japanese–English Translator/Interpreter to support smooth communication between Japanese and U.S. teams. This role involves translating documents, interpreting in meetings, and assisting with day-to-day business correspondence in both office and production settings.
Job description
- Prepare English/Japanese translations for reports, presentations, investigations, and meetings.
- Handle technical documentation with input from the responsible staff.
- Interpret communication between Japanese and U.S. managers, employees, visitors, and guests—in person, on the shop floor, during conference calls, and on business trips.
- Support daily communication needs such as phone calls, emails, and letters.
- Assist other departments with translation and interpretation when required.
- Provide interpretation for external stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and guests.
- Consult with the immediate supervisor regarding concerns or issues.
- Carry out additional tasks as directed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree, or 1–3 years of relevant experience.
- Fluent in Japanese and English, both written and verbal; able to translate and interpret accurately.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and engineering terminology preferred.
- Skilled in interpreting meetings without prior preparation; able to perform simultaneous or consecutive interpretation.
