Staff Inventory Accountant

About the Job

Key responsibilities:


* Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts across multiple locations and systems.
* Monitor and record inventory transactions, including purchases, transfers, returns, adjustments, and shrinkage.
* Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Assist in analyzing inventory variances and identifying root causes of discrepancies.
* Partner with operations and supply chain to ensure physical inventory counts (cycle counts and full counts) are completed and properly reflected in financial
* records.
* Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations of inventory transactions.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures related to inventory.
* Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements related to inventory tracking and reporting.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain the accuracy and integrity of inventory records.
* Review of Intercompany material accounts and sales.
* Review the average cost of inventory transactions.

Qualifications:


* Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
* 1-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably with inventory experience in a manufacturing, retail, or distribution environment.
* Strong understanding of GAAP and inventory accounting principles (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, weighted average).
* Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (Acumatica and Velixo a plus).
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* CPA or working towards certification is a plus.
* Experience with cost accounting, standard costing, or manufacturing accounting.
* Familiarity with inventory audit procedures and internal controls.
