After the season ends, no daily care is needed. Cattle duties are only required during this timeframe due to our scheduled calving periods. Employees will tend to livestock during the winter months when the cattle cannot be on pasture grazing. The job also involves removing snow in the winter months. Since cattle are not on pasture during the winter, they require significantly more work, including feeding them hay, as the grass is dead and often covered in snow. Duties include feeding and watering livestock; monitoring food and water supplies; mixing feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions; and ordering and distributing feed using trucks, tractors, or other equipment. Employees will examine animals to detect illness, injury, disease, or abnormal weight gain.
