Position: Bus Operator
Location: Cleveland, OH
Schedule: Full-Time (1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, 7 - Days A Week)
Pay: $17.00 per hour during training | $27.55 per hour after training | Up to $35.00 per hour after five years

Responsibilities

  • Operate buses along assigned routes and special trips while following schedules, safety regulations, and traffic laws.

  • Serve as a customer service ambassador, providing courteous and professional assistance to passengers.

  • Announce stops via PA system and provide information on destinations, routes, and hours of operation.

  • Handle routine fare collection and assist passengers with boarding, seating, and accessibility needs.

  • Respond appropriately during service interruptions or emergencies and maintain order onboard.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • At least 19 years of age.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of driving experience and two (2) years of customer service experience.

  • Good driving record (no more than 2 points in the past 3 years).

  • Ability to pass background check, DOT physical, and drug screen.

  • Applicants without a CDL may be offered a position contingent upon obtaining a temporary CDL permit during training.


Training & Compensation

  • Training Pay: $17.00/hour (without CDL) | $20.00/hour (with CDL with passenger and air-brake endorsements).

  • Full Rate After Training: $27.55/hour with wage progression up to $35.00+ after five years.


Working Conditions

Operators work primarily on-route in various weather conditions, maintaining safety and providing courteous service. Duties require frequent driving and customer interaction, occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs for wheelchair ramps), and adherence to DOT physical standards.
