Position:              Case Manager                Agency:      Child Support Enforcement Agency

 

Summary:

The primary purpose of the Child Support Case Manager position is to manage child support cases in accordance with federal, state and local laws and procedures.  In addition, the employee processes appropriate documentation for child support cases and testifies in court if necessary. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED, and 1 year experience in a related field

         

Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):

  • Excellent customer service skills, organizational skills, analytical skills, communication skills, attention to detail, experience with computer systems and proficient with computers, typing and word processing experience and the ability to multi-task. Social services, child support and domestic relations / family law experience are a plus.

 

Hours:        7:30 AM to 4:30 PM / 35 hour work week      Salary:           $21.27 per union contract

 

Duties:                

  • Manages child support cases in accordance with federal, state and local laws and procedures (e.g. reviews child support cases; recommends changes to track child support cases to ensure compliance; conducts investigations to locate absent parents; establishes paternity; and enforces child support orders).
  • Maintains case tracking enforcement system to comply with agency, state and federal mandates on time frames; provides narratives of case activities; responds to lump sum notifications; assists in the Financial Institution Data Match (FIDM) review per caseload.; investigates order status (e.g. termination, continuation, modification) and complies with all relevant State and Federal timeframes for case specific activities; investigates activities of participants regarding location, employment information, seek work order, default activity, emancipation, impounds, etc utilizing SETS and CRIS-E; determines appropriate enforcement technique (license suspension, liens, etc.) to bring cases into compliance; processes reviews and adjustments in accordance with State and Federal mandated time frames; completes investigation activities as necessary for verification of information required on guideline application of cases.
  • Processes appropriate documentation for child support cases; generates letters, forms, and notices from a variety of systems, gathers additional information as needed and revises case information; gathers, records, and reports case activities as necessary to develop required reports.
  • Testifies in court if necessary; attends court hearings and offers testimony as needed and provides documentation of case record and arrearage owed; prepares and refers cases requiring legal action to Legal Division and County Prosecutors Office and monitors status of cases; communicates with appropriate parties regarding case status.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in child support program; laws, policies and procedures.
  • May be required to be a notary and perform buccal swab testing for DNA purposes on clients and children.
