We invite pediatricians completing their residency to join our Perinatal Institute Newborn Hospitalist Team at Cincinnati Children's.

We are seeking a full-time Newborn Pediatric Hospitalist to focus on newborn care programs based at Newborn Nurseries and Maternity Centers in Greater Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky/Dayton areas.

The hospitalist will be responsible for newborn care at Level I nurseries, well-newborn exams and discharges. This position includes opportunities for mentorship and teaching of medical students, residents, nursing, and allied health care professionals as well as participation in newborn-focused quality improvement and clinical projects.

Work schedules include day and night shifts in addition to weekend and holiday rotations.

Requirements:M.D./ D.O. or equivalent. Completion of an accredited pediatric residencyprogram Newborn training/experience preferred. Board Certified or Board Eligibility in Pediatrics

* Patient Care - Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the medical license, education and experience. Participate in safe, effective and compassionate patient care, commensurate with their level of advancement and responsibility. Examine patients to determine presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices.

* Determine nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribe and administer medications and immunizations. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care.

* May formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment. May also plan and coordinate care, treatment and rehabilitation for discharged patients.

* Effective Communication - Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Provide data which will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.
