Job Description: Biery Cheese in Louisville, OH, has a full-time Packaging Technician Level 1 / Cook Room (First Shift) opening.

 

Payrate: $17.00/hour

Hours: 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Monday - Friday (Paid 30-Minute Lunch Break)

*Mandatory overtime including weekends

*Attendance and production bonuses available (not guaranteed)

 

The Packaging Technician I (PT1) is an entry-level position. A PT1’s specific role may vary depending on the type of cheese product they package, but most PT1s perform basic production duties. This position may perform sanitation duties, as needed.

  • Sorter
  • Boxer
  • Straighter
  • Filler
  • Skidder
  • Turner/Opener
  • Form Handler
  • Cryovac Operator/Trayer
  • Assembler
  • Racker
  • Process Grinders 

 

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Assist in supporting a safe and healthful work environment for all personnel through consistent support of the company’s safety process.
  • Participate/support the SQF program and assist in the development of the system and operational standards and corrective actions.
  • Responsible that product is run to specification ensuring the highest quality and help perform root cause analysis on all quality defects.
  • Ability to record tracking information from bulk cheese containers/LPs to table placards.
  • Remove cheese from manufacturing containers.
  • Ability to operate Swiss and 640 lifts to load respective machines.
  • Understanding of all plant GMPs.
  • Must be able to fold, dump and skid forms.
  • Must be able to operate and maintain the fillers.
  • Ability to create rack tags and batch tags.
  • Ability to sort through trim to find foreign objects.
  • Perform routine quality checks.
  • Hold yourself and team members accountable.
  • Makes verbal reports to Line Leader and provides spoken information about a problem or issue.
  • Participate in 5Y methodology.
  • Available to work overtime as needed.
  • Other duties and/or projects may be assigned.

  • Must be able to demonstrate the skills needed to perform job description.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Work Environment:

Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which may require special safety precautions working around moving machines in production facilities. Protective clothing or gear such as goggles, gloves and shoes may be required. Must be able to work in a cold environment.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Ability to use hands/arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Ability to work in multiple areas of the plant and may be exposed to wet and humid conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (only in some jobs).
  • Must have excellent vision, distant and peripheral, with the ability to identify and distinguish colors, and adjust focus.
  • Will work near moving mechanical parts, high and/or confining places.

Details: Full time. First Shift (6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). 40+ hours/week. Monday through Friday. Occasional mandatory overtime including weekends. $17.00/hour. Attendance and production bonuses available (not guaranteed).

 

Qualifications: High school diploma / GED. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
