Starting Pay: 

• Lab Trainee: $16.49/hr – $24.74/hr
• Lab Technician: $20.50/hr – $30.48/hr

Additional Premiums:

• Class I License: +$1.50/hr
• Class II License: +$1.75/hr
• Saturday/Sunday Premium: +$1.00/hr

Position Summary

The Wastewater Laboratory Technician position involves a broad range of duties associated with technical work within a laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Experience performing standardized tests, collecting data, and assisting laboratory personnel.
• Ability to enhance process knowledge, develop familiarity with departmental rules and regulations, demonstrate initiative and logic, and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to provide professional customer service.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours as required.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform daily tests on wastewater samples in various stages of treatment to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
• Operate, clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Calculate results from raw laboratory data; log results; and maintain accurate test records to facilitate preparation of various state wastewater treatment reports.
• Prepare reagents, standards, and test solutions as needed.
• Assist with data entry and other related duties as assigned.
• Collect samples and perform on-site analysis as necessary.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and successful completion of drug screening.
• One (1) year of technical laboratory experience or equivalent is preferred.
