Position Summary:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance department to ensure all equipment, facilities, and systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position oversees maintenance personnel, preventative maintenance programs, repairs, and capital improvement projects. The Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, extending equipment life, and supporting production goals through proactive leadership and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities, ensuring timely and efficient completion of work orders and preventative maintenance schedules.
Lead, train, and develop maintenance staff to ensure a high level of technical competence and safety awareness.
Ensure all plant machinery and systems (boilers, conveyors, washers, dryers, presses, air compressors, etc.) are properly maintained and operating at optimal performance levels.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues as needed.
Develop and manage the department’s preventive maintenance program to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports.
Oversee inventory of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies; coordinate with vendors for repairs and equipment purchases.
Collaborate with the production and operations teams to prioritize maintenance work and support operational goals.
Monitor and enforce compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards.
Participate in budgeting, planning, and scheduling of maintenance projects and capital improvements.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance needs and after-hours issues when necessary.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or trade certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and industrial systems, including boilers, HVAC, and pneumatic equipment.
Experience in preventative maintenance and equipment reliability programs.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs. as needed.
Exposure to hot, humid, or noisy environments typical of industrial laundry operations.
Availability to respond to maintenance emergencies, including nights and weekends, when required.
