Job Title: Aerospace Advisor - EDM/CNC Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Remote with travel within domestic U.S.
Subcontract agreement (1099; LLC preferred)
Shift: Flexible as needed (dedicated upon deployment)
Deployment: project deployment to customer locations as needed
Pay Range: $2,000 to 4,000 per week when deployed
As a subcontracted advisor through Belcan, you will deploy to our customers and/or suppliers as needed to support projects related to Aerospace and Space manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
Summary
Belcan is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with strong EDM experience and working knowledge of CNC programming to support a multi-faceted improvement initiative within an electrode manufacturing department. This role will lead a current-state assessment and drive process optimization across tooling, fixturing, and CNC programming. The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise in EDM processes (sinker, not wire), along with a practical understanding of tool design and workflow efficiency.
This is a project-based engagement focused on reducing manual labor, improving part quality, and standardizing tools and processes.
Key Responsibilities
*Conduct a full current-state assessment of CNC programs, machine setups, probe capabilities, and fixturing
*Evaluate and improve top 15 CNC programs used in electrode production
*Integrate and optimize Renishaw probe systems to enhance accuracy and repeatability
*Design and validate new electrode fixtures to support streamlined operations
*Identify opportunities to reduce labor inputs and improve process consistency
*Audit and recommend tool and consumable standardization across the work cell
*Develop a detailed report with actionable recommendations for process and workflow optimization
Must-Have Qualifications
*Proven background in manufacturing or quality engineering for machined parts
*Direct hands-on experience with sinker EDM processes
*Familiarity with SMED methodology, tooling design, and process improvement
*Ability to analyze and optimize CNC machining operations and related workflows
Preferred Qualifications
*Experience with CNC programming and editing in a production environment
*Background in process engineering or machining process development
