Job Description

Summary Of Position
Ensures the daily function of operations and services related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Establishes a strong corporate sales pipeline for the department’s Data Mine program, related constituents’ training programs, and similar events and programs and implement strategic offerings by prospecting, qualifying, and closing leads.  Creates effective business development strategy in support of the area’s objectives.   Works collaboratively with leadership to effectively develop and manage high level strategic partnerships for the College.

Position Information

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Coordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of overall programs and/or services as assigned.  

Regularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of overall goals and objectives. 

Prepares and maintains accurate records of daily tasks in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate.  

Identifies, qualifies, and closes potential opportunities for corporate related activities and strategic initiatives.

Develops relationships with industry, government, non-profit agencies, and economic development organization that help to advance the mission and business objectives of the College. 

Collaborates with leadership to formulate strategic plans for growth and to secure new sources of revenue.

Champions new opportunities locally, regionally, and nationally working collaboratively to execute plans for developing new business, maintaining existing client relationships, and developing new business products and models in concert with division objectives. 

Demonstrates knowledge of all offering areas, industry trends, buyer personas, and funding opportunities to support. 

Utilizes technology, public speaking skills, and all presentation materials to deliver effective multimedia presentations to promote the College. Keeps abreast of the current industry and information to use for presentation purposes.

Conducts formal negotiations, finalizes, and administers client agreements with guidance as needed. 

Provides updates on the pipeline of opportunities.

Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review related to programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components.

Attends trade shows, conferences, et al which are targeted markets to generate new leads.  Assists with coordinating special events and promotional opportunities to market programs. Prepares for and attends events.  

Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events. 

Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires.

Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Evenings and weekends as needed. May require travel as needed. 

Supervision Exercised:  May exercise supervision over student employees.

Qualifications and Competencies

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Knowledge of: university policies and procedures*; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives*; department/division policies and procedures*; workplace safety practices and procedures*; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management. 

Skill in: Employing strong client service orientation; maintaining extreme detail orientated approach; assessing and problem solving effectively to address employer needs and formulate solutions; use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*. 

Ability to: Effectively express thoughts and ideas verbally and through written communication; utilize advanced communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external stakeholders; work effectively in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment; works well independently, but also seeks assistance when needed; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; prepare accurate documentation; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one task to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; one or more years of related experience; and a valid driver’s license. 

Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree in a relevant discipline. Knowledge of job search strategies, labor market supply/demand, and employer’s recruitment methodologies. Knowledge of related university academic policies and procedures. Knowledge of National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) career competencies and best practices related to employer relations. Experience in a leadership role.
