Job Description
The Multi County Juvenile Detention Center is seeking a Title I program, the Title I Teacher's Aide. This individual will be presenting a positive and professional image as a representative of the MCJDC. The aide will assist in creating an environment for student learning so as to increase each student's ability to become independent readers and writers. The aide will supervise youth and work independently with them.
Duties
Assisting in data collection and analysis
Be familiar with Title I state and federal requirements
Providing proper progress reports to Program Manager in an organized and appropriate manner
Provide instructional support to MCJDC teachers
Assist the teachers in the implementation of age and level-appropriate academic instructional activities and appropriate related instructional activities to help meet the youth's IEP and education goals
Maintain youth records and reports as required by the Program Manager
Maintain contact with home school districts
Provide academic assistance and intervention for youth aged 10 - 17
Assists in instruction and seeks assistance from teachers, as needed
Establish and maintain effective channels of internal and external communications
Abide by all administrative rules and regulations as defined in the MCJDC Policy and Procedure Handbook
Perform all other duties as assigned by Program Manager.
Qualifications
Must possess a State of Ohio Educational Aide Permit or Substitute Teacher License supplemented by classroom teacher's aide experience
Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License
Must be able to pass required background check, including drug screen, prior to employment
Experience in providing intervention support to students as a classroom teacher's aide
Experience with at-risk students preferred

May be required to drive in adverse weather conditions
Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
May be exposed to violent youths or youths under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
May be exposed to blood or other bodily fluids
May be required to intervene in fights
May be exposed to contagious or communicable diseases.
