About the Role
The Buildings and Grounds Department is seeking a full-time Laborer to support the maintenance and upkeep of County facilities. This position involves a wide range of outdoor and indoor labor, ensuring that grounds, buildings, and equipment are safe, clean, and in good condition.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain exterior grounds by mowing, trimming, edging, raking, pruning, watering, and snow/ice removal
Perform outdoor labor including fence repair/installation, concrete mixing, ditch digging, scaffolding setup, trash removal, and catch basin repairs
Assist with indoor maintenance and custodial duties such as moving furniture, setting up tables/chairs, sweeping, mopping, waxing, and window cleaning
Make minor equipment adjustments as needed
Carry out other general labor tasks as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Understanding of safety precautions and general manual labor practices
Knowledge of landscaping techniques and building/grounds maintenance
Ability to safely operate standard power tools and vehicles
Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting and moving objects up to 100 pounds frequently
Capacity to perform routine, repetitive tasks and follow instructions
Strong teamwork and cooperation skills when working on group projects
Compensation and Schedule
Full-time, on-site position in Lake County, OH
Starting pay: $18.40 to $20.00 per hour, based on experience
