Hours: (8:00am - 4:30pm & 8:00 am - 8:00 pm)
Work Location: Travel between Health Partners’ locations is required. Position will provide coverage at all Health Partners of Western Ohio’s pharmacies for other technicians’ Paid Time Off requests or staff shortages.

Compensation and Benefits Offered:
- Starting pay $19.00 an hour - goes up based on experience

Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or GED required
- National Certification as Pharmacy Technician
- No felony charges on record
Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with HPWO Pharmacy Department preferred
- CPR-BLS (basic life support) required.
- Professional demeanor.
- Ability to respect confidentiality of patient data.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of insurance and third-party payment systems preferred.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to type at least 35 wpm.
- Computer experience.
- Knowledge of medication brand and generic names.
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse group of people.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours as required by position.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
- Stay knowledgeable on current pharmacy software operations and functionality to promote efficient and quality workflow in the dispensing pharmacies.
- Helps patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders.
- Creates and updates patient health and insurance information in the computer.
- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with local state, federal, and company regulations.
- Communicates with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims.
- At point of sale, verifies that customer receives correct prescription(s).
- Completes medication stock orders, place orders on shelves, and verifies all associated paperwork.
- Enters prescription details into a patient’s profile, selects correct medication and strength, places in appropriate container, and applies label before referring to a pharmacist for review.
- Answer telephone calls.
- Performs manipulative, nondiscretionary functions associated with the practice of pharmacy.
- Compound oral solutions, ointments, and creams; prepare bulk medications.
- Maintain an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrate them into practice.
- Assists in training new employees.
- Maintains knowledge of loss prevention techniques.
- Responds to client/family/caregiver needs.
- Responds to crisis situations according to policy.
- Utilizes supplies in a cost-effective manner.
- Utilizes on-going assessment skills.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.

- Processing of RxAssist orders thru the QS1 system.
- Documenting, ordering and intake of RxAssist orders.
- Knowledge of RxAssist process at HPWO.
- Adheres to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, Medicare D guidelines, and other State and Federal laws). This also includes reporting to the Board of Directors, Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, supervisor or suggestion box, any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.
- Ability to temporarily staff any service location of the HPWO Pharmacy Department in the event of staff shortages, while being compensated for travel between the primary work site and the temporary work site.
- Immediately notify Pharmacy Site Supervisor of any instances that may affect the status of this individual’s license to practice in the state of Ohio or meet the standards of conduct of HPWO.
- Completes all other duties as necessary within the scope of this position as requested by the Pharmacy Site Supervisor.
Work Environment:
Work is primarily sedentary, demanding sitting, walking, lifting, and bending. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination commonly associated with duties in an office setting will be performed repetitively. This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking. The ability to distinguish letters and symbols and utilize telephones, computer terminals, fax machines, and copiers is required. The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
