Position: Lead CNC Programmer/Set-Up
Location: Eastlake, Ohio
Hours: Full-Time (M-F, 7:00-3:30)
Pay: $24.75-$29.81/Hr

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for using engineering-approved methods, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to create and optimize CNC programs. This role supports fixture and tooling development, collaborates across departments, and provides leadership within the machining area, including assisting with machine set-ups and operations as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and optimize CNC programs for manufacturing complex parts on 2- to 3-axis machining centers and lathes.
- Develop programs for engineered work-holding and select appropriate cutting tools.
- Compile and maintain documentation to support efficient machine setup and operation.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Scheduling to support smooth workflow and quality output.
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure safe machine operation practices.
- Eliminate process waste and support on-time delivery of high-quality components.
- Manage deadlines and meet production commitments.
- Identify proper machining sequences, tooling, and operations based on drawings and specifications.
- Revise programs to correct errors and validate program accuracy.
- Interpret engineering data to determine dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
- Determine reference points, cutting paths, and compute angular/linear dimensions.
- Monitor machines during trial runs or simulations to ensure accuracy and consistency with specifications.
- Generate CNC programs in the appropriate machine controller language and maintain proper configuration control.
- Update and improve existing programs to enhance efficiency.
- Provide support for special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a machinist in a precision machining environment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Advanced knowledge of GD&T standards.
- Proficiency with CNC programming codes (G-codes, M-codes, etc.).
- Experience with computer-based modeling/programming; GibbsCam preferred.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based instructions.
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
- Steel-toe or composite-toe footwear required.
- Safety glasses required when operating machinery.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass a drug screening.
