PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Global Energy Category Lead is an individual contributor role in the Global Indirect Sourcing organization and is responsible for partnering with regional and business stakeholders translating the Global Energy sourcing strategies and leading the region's day-to-day sourcing energy needs, including but not limited to natural gas, electricity, oxygen, carbon, and renewable energy sourcing.
This role is specifically accountable for creating and delivering strategic sourcing direction that is aligned with the business and corporate function strategies. Anticipated spend under management is ~$150MM USD.
The Global Energy Category Lead will partner with the global sourcing team, third party advisors, local teams and other functions to reduce cost, drive internal engagement and improve supplier quality. The position will utilize various industry information and benchmarking, draw upon knowledge of the global markets, interpret key stakeholder requirements, and leverage actionable data analytics in evaluating strategies, developing options, and executing tactics to deliver sustainable sourcing solutions.
As a member of the Global Indirect Sourcing Team, the Global Energy Category Lead demonstrates teamwork and a commitment to the overall success of Glass Reinforcement business. Owens Corning Glass Reinforcements is a business unit of Owens Corning that is in the acquisition sign to close process. Owens Corning has signed an agreement to sell Glass Reinforcements to the Praana Group. The deal is expected to close in Q1 of 2026. The path ahead will be dynamic, full of change, and expected to be fast paced with a change in ownership. The business operates in twenty (20+) locations across the globe.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful Category Lead - Energy:
Trusted Business Partner
Demonstrates the behaviors of strategic supplier relationship management
Develops and executes global strategy
Delivers defined and agreed upon results
Demonstrates strategic sourcing expertise, and stays up to date on the latest sourcing management trends
Understands the strategic direction of the company's businesses and aligns functional strategies and tactics to support and enhance business results.
Strives to eliminate risk on profitability and creating a clear view for businesses regarding the impact of the decision on operational effectiveness.
Establishing and building strong relationships with key business leaders and decision makers in the region and with the global sourcing function; ensuring constant contact so that energy team resources are aligned with business objectives.
Supplier Relationship Management
Develops strong business relationships with all levels of key supplier base
Visit suppliers when appropriate to assess their capabilities and understand their business strategies and priorities.
Develops strong understanding of key supplier industries through "outside in" perspective
Benchmarks key suppliers regularly.
Leads supplier management for category, including:
Key account management
Performance management platform
Supplier recognition
A process for auditing performance
Sustainability
Innovative substitutes and/or technologies

Strategic Sourcing Expertise
Assures compliance with Corporate governance for all transactions. Ensuring operations are consistent with the global supplier code of conduct and OC values
Builds insight and knowledge of critical supplier base, their business, what is necessary for the supplier to be successful
Manages inflation, savings forecasts and financial reporting in a data driven manner accounting for potential short, medium, and long-term risks
Maintains industry knowledge of regulatory issues and energy generation trends
Leads and manages the negotiation of contractual relationships
Develops in-depth site strategies with focused insight on the external markets including; * Regional and global macroeconomic and regulatory trends.
Commodity availability & capacity including OC participation vs. overall market.
Supplier/commodity risk.
Supplier performance management.
Value Creation and other relevant business factors
JOB REQUIREMENTS - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization; executive presence
Energy industry or commodity market experience
Strong financial acumen
Strong office productivity suite skills
Ability to work cross-functionally in a regional environment
Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, finance or related field of study; MBA or Masters-level degree preferred
Project management that drives impact, strong results and leads change
EXPERIENCE
Extensive experience in a global sourcing organization or relevant business/commercial experience with progressive responsibilities
Experience in creating and implementing strategies at a comprehensive and regional level within a corporate environment
Results and impact-driven business partner with experience in influencing decisions
Experience with complex agreements, large contracts or other legal agreements
Business and financial acumen; insatiable intellectual curiosity with the desire of personal continuous improvement
Creative problem-solver and strong change agent
Self-motivated; strategic thinker with ability to drive results
In-depth knowledge of electricity, natural gas, oxygen, renewable energy and global carbon markets preferred
Ability to travel, both regionally and internationally; estimated travel 5%
