Acara Solutions is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for our client in Ashland, OH.

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing carbon/graphite fixtures and fiberboard components used in high-temperature vacuum furnaces. This role will translate customer and sales concepts into manufacturable solutions, create detailed CAD drawings, and coordinate the required material demand from upstream suppliers. The position will support optimization of material usage and fixture fabrication methods to improve cost, throughput, and performance.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and able to collaborate across sales, engineering, and manufacturing functions.
Responsibilities:
Own the workflow from concept CAD design customer approval production demand planning
Develop detailed SolidWorks drawings for fixtures and fiberboard components
Create optimized nesting, plate layouts, and billet utilization to reduce scrap and cost
Coordinate required billet and plate demand with Americarb NF, communicating quantities, thicknesses, and timelines
Work closely with Sales to understand customer requirements and ensure manufacturability
Support quoting through labor/material estimates and routing generation
Maintain drawing revisions and documentation in accordance with quality and customer requirements
Provide hands-on support to production during build and commissioning of new fixture designs
Participate in fixture/process improvement initiatives to streamline manufacturing
Support customer technical reviews and respond quickly to design revisions
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
3+ years of experience in manufacturing or product design
Proficient in SolidWorks (assemblies, drawings, nesting/CAM tools)
Experience designing assemblies for manufacturability
Strong communicator with ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Production, R&D, Quality
Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment with shifting demands
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
Carbon/graphite materials, refractories, or high-temp composites
Familiarity with hot-zone design, carbon/carbon and graphite machining, and/or furnace tooling
Experience interfacing with customers on technical drawings and approvals
Basic understanding of thermal processing and material qualification requirements
