Job Summary
The OSP Superintendent oversees multiple new-construction data center projects, ensuring the successful installation of OSP infrastructure, including a full range of fiber cable types and splicing techniques. This role manages field operations, supervises technician Client, maintains safety and quality standards, and collaborates closely with project management to support scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning. The position requires frequent travel-primarily to Southwest locations-and a combination of on-site field work and remote work from home.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee and schedule technician Client across assigned project locations.

Provide technical guidance during pre-construction, including constructability reviews and schedule development.

Participate in pre-bid discussions as needed.

Administer union contract requirements related to workforce management, including layoffs and recalls.

Ensure accurate and timely reporting of daily timecards.

Hold team members accountable for proper maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment.

Coordinate with project management on staffing plans, budget hours, material staging, and work order changes.

Conduct regular site visits based on project distance and schedule expectations.

Maintain a thorough understanding of project scopes, specifications, drawings, and budget structures.

Monitor jobsite safety, enforce safety requirements, and support on-site safety meetings.

Identify and correct safety hazards, and report incidents to the appropriate leadership.

Review plans and specifications for constructability issues and communicate recommendations to the project team.

Support quantity takeoffs and pricing estimates when requested.

Mentor and train employees and support professional development programs.

Oversee testing activities, documentation, and as-built preparation.

Manage paperwork and processes associated with field career progression programs.

Assist with scheduling, forecasting Client needs, and identifying future project opportunities.

Maintain positive relationships with clients, field personnel, and project teams.

Collaborate with training personnel to support development and delivery of learning programs.

Travel to project sites as required, including extended stays depending on workload.

Job Requirements

Comprehensive experience with a full variety of fiber optic cables and splicing techniques, including fusion splicing.

Experience installing OSP infrastructure; 5+ years preferred.

Proficiency with MaxCell, innerduct, microduct, fiber cable, microcable, and related equipment.

Minimum 10 years of relevant field or supervisory experience (or equivalent).

OSHA 30 certification.

Must meet motor vehicle record requirements.

Ability to meet all badging and jobsite access requirements.

Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office.

Strong understanding of building plans, specifications, and building systems.

Ability to plan, organize, and lead teams effectively.

Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain positive client relationships.

Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and manage pressure in fast-paced environments.

Strong focus on quality, safety, and productivity.

Ability to travel extensively, including regular travel to Southwest locations, and work 2-3 weeks per month in the field with remaining time worked from home.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Additional technical training or certifications preferred.
