Location: Onsite – 5days at Columbus, OH or Richmond, VA

Who we are looking for: 

We are currently seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer for a full-time position. supporting the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) at Columbus, OH/ Richmond, VA.

We are an organization that is committed to your growth and success in the IT software development industry and looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer who will be supporting Enterprise Software Systems for the DLA and working with a team of technical experts in an agile environment to support current systems and functionality for a suite of applications. 

Role Description

Performs a variety of routine project tasks applied to specialized information assurance problems. Tasks involve integration of electronic processes or methodologies to resolve total system problems, or technology problems as they relate to IA requirements. Analyzes information security requirements.

Applies analytical and systematic approaches in the resolution of problems of workflow, organization, and planning. Provides security engineering support for planning, design, development, testing, demonstration, integration of information systems.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Seven (7) years of relevant IT experience
  • Possess a relevant certification meeting the DOD 8570/8140 IAT level III. Any one of the following:
    • CASP CE
    • CCNP Security
    • CISA
    • CISSP (or Associate)
    • GCED
    • GCIH
    • CCSP
  • Relevant certification meeting DOD 8570/8140 CND-IS. Any one of the following: 
    • SSCP
    • CEH
    • GISCP
    • CySA+
    • CHFI
    • CFR
    • Cloud+
    • CND
  • Computing Environment: Trellix IPS manager or Check Point IPS Blade
  • Four (4) years of experience creating customized signatures using SNORT.

What your day-to-day will look like / Duties:

  • Work with Cybersecurity tools at the enterprise level to implement and maintain all network and wireless IDS/IDPS systems.
  • Work with enterprise service areas on network sensor issues by troubleshooting issues and anomalies.
  • Review security events collected by Cybersecurity tools with security analysts to determine the cause of events.
  • Create signature policies based on intelligence, best practices, and coordination with other internal or external groups. Give recommendations on how to most effectively implement each policy.
  • Recommend taskings for enterprise service areas that require site personnel to perform signature and/or policy updates as required.
  • Update documentation and procedures for the Cybersecurity tools used in intrusion detection and prevention.
  • Test new signatures in a test environment before migrating these changes to the production environment.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) data collection and correlation functions as relating to intrusion detection and prevention systems.
  • Keep current on new product features and technologies, as relating to intrusion detection and prevention systems that could be used by the customer to replace older systems. Recommend replacement or feature enhancements to existing intrusion detection and prevention products used.
