Knox County Job & Family Services is looking for an Eligibility Referral Specialist 1 (ERS1) to guide individuals through the public assistance process and ensure they receive the support they need.
This is a full-time opportunity with normal working hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Starting pay is $17.69 per hour and Knox County offers robust benefits including generous leave time and Public Student Loan Forgiveness.
Essential Functions
What You will Do:
Conduct interviews with clients to assess eligibility for public assistance programs.
Assist individuals with applications and data entry into the state computer system.
Research case records, verify financial details, and explain program benefits.
Schedule appointments and relay critical information to case managers.
Process applications for Medicaid, emergency assistance, and other services.
Maintain organized records and communicate with internal teams and community partners.

Job Standards
Two years’ experience as a Unit Support Worker or completion of two courses or one year of experience in behavioral science, social science or customer services techniques; one course or six months experience in business mathematics, one course or six months experience in business English, one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding or word processing; plus, a high school diploma or equivalent; or education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above.
Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
Must be able to pass background check for FTI.
