The Opportunity
Our USGO Erie Plains - LEX-Meigs Area team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business, and we are expanding our presence to support our measurement and regulation facilities along with compressor station electrical and controls support within the footprint of Ohio.

We are seeking a skilled EIC Measurement & Pipeline Technician who can perform maintenance and repair work on natural gas measurement equipment, compressor station control systems, and related facilities. This individual will receive direction from licensed, fully qualified tradespeople, but is expected to work with minimal direct supervision and independently perform tasks for which they are qualified. The successful candidate will also provide work direction to more junior apprentices as needed.
What you'll do
Locate and visually mark subsurface pipeline infrastructure with paint and/or flags
Oversee and manage pipeline or utility crossings and encroachments
Complete required Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company documentation
Perform pipeline maintenance activities such as leak repair, clearing and inspection of right-of-way, and assisting with tie-ins of mainline valves
Perform pipeline locates through the Ohio state one-call system
Patrol pipeline right-of-way and assist with leak surveys
Perform maintenance and repair work on compressor station, meter station, communication systems, and other facilities related to the pipeline system, under the direction of fully qualified tradespeople
Assist with installation, start up, and repair of measurement and regulation equipment, including various types of meters, recording gauges, flow computers, LCEM units, transmitters, relief valves, regulators, valve actuators, pneumatic and digital controllers, filtration devices, odorizers, and gas quality devices (chromatographs and gas samplers)
Conduct routine and major maintenance on natural gas driven compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment
Troubleshoot, operate, maintain, calibrate, and repair various types of electronic, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, independently performing tasks for which qualification has been achieved
Maintain power, process controls, programmable logic controllers (PLC), electric generation equipment, microwave multiplex equipment, and orifice meters as directed
Assemble, install, test, and maintain instrumentation, electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatuses, and fixtures, using hand and power tools
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of breakdowns and correct problems, within scope of qualified tasks
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components as directed
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repair, ensuring compliance with codes
Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, frequency generators, and oscilloscopes
Receive and maintain equipment documentation (blueprints, schematics, line diagrams, technical manuals, operation manuals) and serve as a technical resource in their review and use
Perform diagnostic tests, accuracy tests, calibrations, and replacements of various measurement and regulation equipment
Compile, prepare, and maintain written records related to DOT auditable inspections, accuracy tests, calibrations, odorant tests, equipment change outs, relief valve tests, and gas quality analysis such as dewpoint levels, specific gravity, and gas samples
Work closely with station operational personnel to properly route gas within the compressor station, start and stop compressor units, and execute mode changes within the compressor station yard
Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP
Provide work direction to junior apprentices as required
Operate and maintain facilities by painting, weed eating and housekeeeping
Other tasks as assigned, within scope of qualification

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum completion of third year of trades program, or two years of vocational/technical training from a recognized institution with two years of relevant work experience
Previous experience in a related industry
Meets and maintains company-defined operator qualifications and technical tasks
Thorough understanding of stop work authority (SWA) and safe work practices
Knowledge and understanding of lock out/tag out (LOTO) procedures
Basic knowledge of engine mechanics
Experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related software

Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree to include courses in engine maintenance or electricity/electronics
Experience with Allen Bradley and/or Bristol controls
Experience with various types of gas measurement testing equipment
Thorough understanding of the test equipment used to maintain control systems
Experience with PLC's, pneumatic and electronic valves, transmitters, switches and regulators
Ability to interpret technical reference documents

This position requires candidates to:

Have and maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
Cover compressor station operations with potential for periodic nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures and cramped conditions
