Department/Unit: ACCU Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care Certification) or Physician Assistant

Hours/Shift: Full Time - 40 hours/week, Day/Night Shift

Benefit Eligibility: Full Time Benefits Eligible

Expected Starting Salary: $54.90 -$68.02 mid-point

The Acute Care Cardiology Unit (ACCU) is an integral part of the Heart Institute and provides comprehensive care for medical and surgical cardiac patients including heart and heart lung transplant. The ACCU also serves as an overflow area for medical-surgical patients. The patient population ranges from newborns to adults and consists of 24 beds. Some of therapeutic modalities used on the Acute Care Cardiology unit include noninvasive monitoring, cardiac telemetry, oxygen, high-flow nasal cannula, inotropic and antiarrhythmic drug therapy, NIRS, and complex drainage tube management. Additional modalities include mechanical/ventricular assist devices such as Berlin Heart, HeartMate II, HeartMate III, and SynCardia.

Scope for subspecialty role will not exceed the scope of the collaborating or supervising MD

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

* Masters degree in related field. Require clinical license, certification or training OR Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree

* Acute Care Certification

* Preferred: Experience as an APP in subspecialty

* Licensure and certification in accordance with CCHMC Delineation of Privileges

* Multi-state licensure in addition to Ohio licensure may be required base on subspecialty

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Patient Care- Perform history and/or physical exams on patients presenting for care in area of expertise. Assess and diagnose illnesses, including chronic and acute conditions. Formulate, document and monitor a treatment plan. Order and monitor therapeutic interventions including but not limited to diets, laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests as deemed necessary by patient history and/or physical exam. Provide clinical consultation, order interdisciplinary consults. Professional practice including but not limited to prescription of medications in accordance with Federal and State Law & Rules and CCHMC policy. Attains and maintains competency in subspecialty practice, skills and procedures in accordance with Joint Commission standards for focused (FPPE) and ongoing (OPPE) professional practice evaluation.
