Description

This position is designed to directly support students and the Access and Retention Coordinator by administering (proctoring) a variety of tests: academic tests, placement tests, and TEAS tests. This position is an integral point of contact for new and current students in addition to serving as a faculty liaison. This position assists with ensuring that students who are eligible, receive their approved accommodations for tests/assessments through partnership with the Office of Accessibility.  The Testing Specialist prioritizes connecting with parties in a meaningful, trauma-informed way to promote a sense of belonging on campus. They are responsible for maintaining test security, confidentiality and upholding the integrity of the Testing Center. Position is not benefit eligible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administer a variety of academic and specialty tests to students with and without disabilities.

  • Proctor Accuplacer Assessments, manage and explain score reports, and assist students with next steps in the enrollment process.

  • Prioritize high volumes of communication by scheduling appointments, managing email correspondence, and responding promptly to phone calls and voicemails.

  • Ensure attention to detail and timeliness in test preparation, administration, and return of materials to faculty.

  • Maintain positive rapport with faculty, staff, and students to foster a welcoming and supportive testing environment.

  • Work independently and collaboratively to make informed decisions using critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Manage multiple software systems to improve efficiency and productivity, including overseeing email accounts and using technology to meet operational goals.

  • Create and maintain accurate reports on testing data.

  • Perform office management tasks such as organizing files, using printers and scanners, stocking supplies, and maintaining the testing area.

  • Uphold test security, maintain confidentiality, and ensure the integrity of the Testing Center.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Higher education experience preferred
  • Knowledge of word processing, Outlook and data entry experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations

  • ATI Proctor Certification (can be obtained on the job)
  • Accuplacer Certificate of Test Administration (can be obtained on the job)

Physical Requirements

The work is sedentary.  Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work.  However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc.  No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
