Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred or equivalent work experience in the related field. Other professional certifications will be considered.
Experience Requirements
Previous counseling, social work, work in crisis management or bereavement support experience is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Must be able to work outside regular business hours.
Requires valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile or the ability to arrive and depart from work and work-related functions at expected times.
This position requires on-call responsibilities and travel is essential to this position.
Advanced level of sensitivity and advocacy in providing support to grieving families in the hospital setting.
Ability to assess family dynamics as the basis for a support plan.
Able to work well with all levels of personnel in hospital settings and within the guidelines of each institution.
Must be highly accountable and able to work autonomously. Must possess a high level of self-motivation and well-developed time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
Basic computer and data entry skills, including Windows applications (e.g., Word, Excel & PowerPoint) required.
Strong interpersonal skills are required to develop close working relationships with hospital and healthcare-related personnel involved in organ donation and transplantation.
Sensitivity and the ability to ensure absolute confidentiality are required.
