Job Title: Data Engineer

Job Pay Range: $30/hr-$37/hr

Job Location: Cincinnati, OH (Onsite)

Job Description

Required Technical Skills

  • Snowflake for modern data warehousing
  • dbt for SQL‑based transformations, testing, and documentation
  • DataStage for legacy ETL support during migration
  • Advanced SQL development and optimization
  • ETL/ELT pipeline design, orchestration, and maintenance
  • CI/CD using Git‑based workflows

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Python and Shell scripting
  • Data modeling (normalized and dimensional)
  • Data validation frameworks (dbt tests, Great Expectations)
  • Metadata management and lineage tracking
  • REST/SOAP API integration

Candidate Profile

Strong communication skills, curiosity, and a willingness to learn new business and technical domains.

A minimum of three years of hands‑on technical experience is preferred.

Role Summary

This role focuses on designing and building scalable data systems, ensuring data platforms meet business needs, and identifying opportunities to improve data usage. A solid understanding of data engineering, data mining, and algorithms is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain data systems and pipelines
  • Develop algorithms, predictive models, and prototypes
  • Ensure systems align with business requirements and industry standards
  • Integrate new data and engineering technologies
  • Establish processes for data mining, modeling, and production
  • Build custom components and analytics applications
  • Identify new ways to leverage existing data assets
  • Connect and optimize systems using various programming tools
  • Collaborate with data architects, IT teams, and data scientists
  • Maintain disaster recovery procedures
  • Recommend improvements to data quality and reliability

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with relational and non‑relational databases (SQL, MySQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, MongoDB)
  • Experience programming or architecting backend systems (e.g., Java, J2EE)
