Job Summary
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs for commercial construction projects. This role focuses on accident prevention, regulatory compliance, employee training, and fostering a strong safety culture across active job sites. The Safety Manager works closely with project leadership and field personnel to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and ensure adherence to federal and state safety standards, particularly within large-scale commercial and data center construction environments.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and manage accident prevention, training, and safety compliance programs across assigned projects.
Design, facilitate, and deliver safety training programs, orientations, and ongoing safety meetings.
Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits, and work area assessments with an emphasis on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors.
Develop, organize, and implement safety programs aligned with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Review and support the completion of Job Hazard Analyses for major phases of work and assist field leadership in their development.
Participate in regulatory inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state safety regulations.
Evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks and compliance audits.
Collaborate with field personnel to develop project-specific corrective action plans addressing safety concerns.
Provide constructive feedback to project leadership regarding safety performance, improvement areas, and positive recognition.
Coach and mentor employees to correct unsafe behaviors and recognize safe work practices.
Assist with incident investigations and support project leadership in completing required documentation.
Facilitate injury and illness case management and assist with workers' compensation processes.
Support initiatives that strengthen overall safety culture across projects.
Job Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of construction safety experience within commercial new construction environments.
Experience supporting union workforce projects.
Experience working on new construction data center projects.
OSHA 30 Construction certification required.
Strong ability to work independently with effective communication and behavioral influence skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to walk construction sites for extended periods of time and perform field-based assessments.
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
Work Experience
At least 3 years of construction safety experience, preferably in large-scale commercial new construction.
