Cardiology Professor: Heart Institute Inpatient Services Director

This position will be pivotal to unit medical administration, unit culture optimization, and ensuring outstanding inpatient quality of care with increasing volumes from incremental CT surgical cases.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide leadership for the assigned clinical program area with responsibility for clinical care, research, education, and administration. Supports the organization's commitment to improving child health by developing and leading programs and initiatives promoting disciplined study and discourse on the broad spectrum of issues and implications in medical care, education, and research.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of pediatrics, clinical, translational, fundamental research programs, clinical fellowship programs, community organizations, and relevant federal and state laws and regulations; ability to plan, organize, administer, implement, and evaluate the interdisciplinary programs (education, service, research/demonstration, etc.) within the assigned area and Cincinnati Children's. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people at all levels of the medical center and individuals nationally and internationally. It may require teaching at a university level, preparing grants and contracts, conducting research, and publishing in refereed journals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
* M.D. degree from an accredited school of medicine with an active State of Ohio Medical Board license and/or PhD in a related clinical or research field.
* Experience in areas of specialization, including working in an interdisciplinary setting, medical clinic facilities involving a culturally diverse population, university teaching, research, grantsmanship, and publications.
* May require subspecialty training in the specific clinical area.
* Seven to ten years of managerial experience or equivalent
* Five to seven years of clinical experience

Preferred:
* Prior experience in a complex academic medical setting is strongly preferred.
* Board Certification
* Prior experience in a leadership capacity

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Mission: Responsible for the development, communication, and implementation of strategic, operational, and programmatic plans for the assigned area, which are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Effectively interacts with other faculty, staff, and Division leadership to develop programs that align with and ensure that the organization achieves its strategic mission. Assist with recruitment efforts to ensure that future faculty and staff will support and grow the programs and initiatives.

Clinical Care: Assure safety and quality in all patient care. Is instrumental in incorporating a fully integrated, collaborative approach to advancing health care delivery to a patient population. Partner with division/department leadership and clinical director to achieve clinical quality goals. Promotes team interactions with assigned faculty/staff and Patient Services staff. Monitors and ensures staff's safe and effective clinical practice. Monitors patient outcomes and continually seeks improvements. Supports initiatives to develop the necessary programs or affiliations to offer family-centered, community-based, coordinated, comprehensive, and culturally competent care. May participate in the interdisciplinary evaluation of patients and serve as a consultant within the Department, medical center, and the community.
